The
growth of the algae is a fact of the life that the every aquarium owner will be
facing sooner or later after setting up the fish tank with the plants where
some algae’s growth will healthy and normal but the excess algae growth will be
hazardous to the life of the plants and fish. Knowing the harness of algae
overgrowth is the important thing which we need to know while setting up the
aquarium or the fish tank and following are the few things which we need to
consider for controlling the growth of the algae in the fish tank.
·
Don’t place the fish tank where there is
a direct sunlight because the sunlight can improve or promote the growth of the
algae in order to avoid this you can use the artificial lights and when using
the is lights make sure than the light is not stronger than the necessary
lights.
· Don’t over feed your fish where this
will increase the phosphate level present in the water and make sure that you
always remove the uneaten foods from the tank.
· The growth of the algae can be
controlled or avoided by performing the regular water changes and also maintain
the habit of the changing the en to fifteen percent of the water from your
aquarium at every week to keep the level of the nutrients to be low in the
water.
· Always keep the live plants in the fish
tank because these plants will use many of the nutrients present in the water
so that the algae do not get any nutrients for promoting its growth.
When
you follow the above methods you can get rid of the algae growth and keep your
fish tank or aquarium clean and look beautiful and this can be also controlled
by using the water which have the low phosphate content with it and this makes
the algae not to grow well.
Benefits of keeping the algae eating fish and critters
The
benefit of keeping the algae eating fishes in the aquarium is that the fish
will clean the algae present in the tank by eating it and in which only the
critters and the fish can control the 100% growth of the algae. Some of the
algae eating fishes are namely Siamese flying fox, plecostomus and otocinclus
where they will help you in reducing the growth of the algae in the tank.
These
fishes don’t hurt any other fishes in the tanks where they only minimize the
growth of the algae and when you use the plecostomus species for eliminating
the algae then it will grow a couple of feet long which will be a issue when
you are having a small tank.
When you have problem in having the plecostomus
species you can use the rubber nose plecostomus instead of the plecostomus
where this will grow only few inches. You can also use the critters like apple
snails which will eat the algae but it is more wreak havoc on any of the live
plants.
